During his distinguished career, Stuart has appeared in hundreds of court cases and arbitrations, both in London and around the world. He appears regularly in the superior courts in England, the Privy Council, and the courts of various common law jurisdictions in Asia and the Caribbean. He has argued many landmark cases in the Court of Justice of the European Union. He has rights of audience in the Singapore International Commercial Court and the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts. He became a Queen's Counsel (now King's Counsel) in 1991. He has been appointed to numerous arbitration tribunals and is also an ADR Group accredited mediator. He has been a Deputy Judge of the High Court since 2004.
Stuart is a member of the Commercial and Chancery Bar Associations and a former member of the Bar Council International Relations Committee and British Council Law Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the New York Bar and has been admitted to the Bar in several Caribbean jurisdictions.
